Lapsang Souchong Lot #7

Lapsang Souchong Lot #7

Regular price $5.50 Sale price $4.50

Lapsangs are traditionally made by roasting the tea leaves over fires with pine logs, resulting in a unique and strong smokiness reminiscent of a camp fire.

In many cases, lapsangs are made with a lower grade tea leaf that is heavily smoked, resulting in nothing but smoky notes coming through in the tea.

With this particular lot, the tea maker used a higher-grade base tea and a carefully monitored smoking process to achieve a lower level of smokiness that allows the quality of the base tea to still be experienced. Think BBQ chips instead of campfire smoke.

This is a clean and balanced smoked tea with distinct notes of biscuit.

Ingredients: Smoked black tea
Origin: Fujian, China
Caffeine: HIGH

Not as good as the other Lapsang Souchong

Tea Runners carried another Lapsang Souchong that I bought previously and really liked. Unfortunately, it's currently out of stock. When I saw that this one was available (Lot # 7), I thought I'd like it just as much. It simply is not as good. I mean, it's okay, and I'm not going to send it back, but it's not quite smoky enough and isn't as tasty. I hope they bring back the other Lapsang Souchong soon - but until then, I'll keep drinking this one.

Hello sir,

You are correct. This lapsang is much less smoky than our other listing (https://shop.tearunners.com/products/lapsang-souchong), which has been out of stock for a while but is about to be replaced. This lot (#7) is sweeter and more nuanced than heavily smoked lapsangs.
